Marriage on the horizon

Melbourne, June 15, 2003

HOLLYWOOD beauty Claire Danes is talking marriage to her Australian boyfriend, singer-songwriter Ben Lee.

"I'm getting to the age now where it becomes an appropriate question," Danes, 24, said.

"I'm amazed by the longevity of our relationship. We've been together for over six years, so it's starting to resemble a marriage anyway.

"I think going through the actual ceremony would be redundant at this point, but it would be fun to have a party. I'm not averse to it.

"We haven't become boring to each other yet. I just love him and my love is tenacious."

Danes, whose credits include Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet and Oliver Stone's U-Turn, will next be seen in a major role opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, on July 17.

Danes' relationship with Lee, also 24, has not only survived their teen years, but also the tyranny of distance; she lives in New York, he lives in Sydney.

Danes said she spends at least two months a year based at Lee's Bondi apartment.
